Rise of the PVP Slayer - SilirrionSo, the expansion is out, yes it's pretty, yes it's got content that doesn't involve a single ounce of pvp. The new expansion is whatever to me, because I could honestly care less about fighting some articifial coded mob that does the same thing over and over, to each their own, if you enjoy it, that's great, I have nothing against that.
Let's move on and discuss the pvp issue. So we have Shrines of Bori, it was a good idea and concept, but it's obvious it's not really what we expected for PVP. First off a simple fix for /camp should have been implemented weeks ago, I still don't understand why at this point, it hasn't been fixed, that's the first start of what's wrong with PVP. Secondly, were smashing more rocks then faces ingame, this is clearly an issue that Funcom hasn't taken in to consideration. Why would people want to smash rocks all day Funcom, when you don't set up any proper systems in PVP except for the fact that you win the fight?
Let me take an example of the all mighty World of Warcraft. In WoW, the better the player you are at PVP, the more your rewarded. If you want to get the best gear, you have to be good at the game, you can't just step in and expect to get the gear. Not to mention, the better you're, the less of a grind it is and the more rewarded you get for being great. Arena's have a rating system, it's not about "how much you play", it's about how good your team and yourself are. So if you win 10 fights in a row, your rating goes up and you receive more points at the end of the weeks cycle when they're tallied up. To wear the gear, your team must have a certain arena rating, in WoW, shoulders, helmet and weapons are the glamorous looking pieces in the game, so they have the highest rating. The top 3 teams of the season also get "legendary rewards" for being the best of that year that nobody else could get, and it's useful stuff, like an armored dragon that has a faster flight speed and a way different color that looks bad ass.
Now I am not saying make this game like WoW, what Iam saying is, you need to put in systems that are valuable and involve PVP in order to get it no matter what. Smashing rocks all day as a guild and watching somebody type /camp, isn't good enough, clearly. There are so many different things you guys could do in the PVP department, but you just never do it, you just talk about it for months on top of months. 12 v 12 minis were spoken of by Didek over a year ago now, A YEAR. People spoke about the arena system, the removal of Gaurds, the mercenary system, where you could kill guild leaders in neutral cities for pay and the main one of all, CROSS SERVER MINIS????
On top of this, there are no real ranking systems for PVP, we have guild renown, but who the hell wants to get a ton of renown for smashing rocks, rather then smashing faces. I see guilds like "Reincarnation" possibly one of the worse pvp guilds in this game on Tyranny, the only time they step foot in to Cimmeria End is when they do a search of the zone and they can just out zerg it, or when nobody is there. Your basically rewarding PVE players PVP gear that they will never use for smashing rocks when nobody else is online to contest. Then when the real PVP players step in the zone, they take off like a bat out of hell, you don't find this retarded for a PVP concept? because I think 80% of the population does.
Let's talk about your broken mini game system, so we got stuff based on time, why would you make prowess based on time? Anything based on time is possibly the worse concept I have ever seen. The better teams should be rewarded more for being good at what they do, dominating. So we stay in there for the extra time and hold teams there that want to leave so we can milk the prowess since none of us PVE. It's not our fault that were good at what we do, would you give less gear and mastery to people who took longer to kill the dragon "Vistrix", no. You would want to give more to the people who could rush kill that Dragon as fast as possible on a timed mode because they're good at what they do.
The part that kills me about Age of Conan is, you guys are sitting on a gold mine in the PVP department but your so obviously CLUELESS to your own product. If you actually setup proper systems, promoted more PVP and showed people why it's the dominate PVP game, more players would join this game then PVE players. The problem is, your game developers have absolutely no clue what PVP content is, or how it even works mechanically, that part since launch is obvious to everyone. From watered down gameplay mechanics, to Gaurds, to slower combat to bubbles and making everything a grind worse then some Far East Asian game like Aion, you guys don't have a clue what the PVP community wants.
When we ask for content in PVP, we want content, not rocks to slam with our hammers, it's a good ground start, but that's all it is, a ground start.
I have written out exactly what you could do for a bad ass style pvp playground, and I an enormous amount of people supporting it long ago and you guys just brush it off like it's nothing.
Make a 16 vs 16 White Sands battlezone for level 80's, that has 5 capture points, make sure its Cross servered. Have them start on each side of the map, and push each other all the way back to their spawn until they used up all their points like in a Bad company 2 conquest mode. This is just a BASIC concept of what you could do, why do you think so many 80's go back to white sands for fun? obviously there is something about that place that holds them there... use your business senses.
Silirrion, Since you stepped foot in this company, I am sorry but you have absolutely demolished the PVP community, I saw the stuff Gaute had lined up for us, and you threw it all out the window and just made this game nothing but an Asian Korean Grind game for people who can't multi-task. Why don't you man up, get your "hardcore" pvp developers together and make something that will last in this game for a long time and stop fkn us around, because it's getting old now, Seriously.
